Ever had a word from God? Like a “no denying it, that was God”, kind of experience? I had one recently, and it has left me reexamining my ministry and my life.

I was on my last day of a trip to visit my daughter in Florida. I was sound asleep about 4 AM in my hotel room. I heard a voice – not in my head or in my ears, but in my spirit, that’s the only way I can describe it. And the voice said “If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting.” I sat straight up in bed, wide awake. I didn’t hear anything more, so I began to pray to God that he would show me where I needed to change what I was doing.

In light of all that, I began to look at everything I was doing in ministry and asking myself “Do you want to keep getting what you’re getting?”. We made changes in curriculum and procedures. I’ve tried really hard to show my beloved volunteers how important they are, and have tried to give them a strong vision for what we are trying to accomplish. I have spent much time in prayer, asking God to help me change my attitudes, speech and behaviors that were not bearing good fruit.

Change is happening. Of course, I want it all to happen overnight, but God always uses a process to accomplish his will in our lives. But I know that He who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it!

So then, yesterday, as I was bringing a forkful of yummy pastry to my mouth, I heard, “If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting.”

I guess it’s not only about the ministry! Looks like I’ll be having salad for lunch…

Have you ever had a word from God like that? Or a verse from the Bible that just seems to crop up you wherever you go, or just jumps off the page at you as a clear word from God to your heart? I’d love to hear about it. Add your experience in the comments below.
