I recently heard an interview with Janet Boynes.  Janet, who has left the lesbian lifestyle, now runs Janet Boynes Ministries.  JBM is a non-denominational outreach dedicated to evangelism by preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and ministering to individuals who question their sexuality or who wish to leave homosexuality.  In the interview, Janet was asked about the recent Supreme Court decision on marriage.  Specifically, she was asked what the next step in the LBGT agenda is.  Her answer?  To indoctrinate children to question their sexuality.  Does that make anyone else’s heart sink?  It did mine.  But I didn’t stay there.  My heart is ascending and here is why:

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”  The Message Bible says it this way, “Point your kids in the right direction – when they’re old, they won’t be lost.”

Do you see the principle at play here?  A child’s training and upbringing has a huge influence on how that child acts as an adult.  So if you ever feel like your ministry to children is insignificant, I beg to differ!  I would say you are best positioned to change society!  Other entities recognize the power of getting their message into children.  The church needs to be just as tenacious!

Here is the single, most important thing I believe we can do as children’s ministers; preach the Word of God.  Matthew 24:35 says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”  John MacArthur says that when training people to identify counterfeit currency, they begin with studying genuine money.  Did you catch that?  They don’t start with studying the fake stuff, they start by studying the real money!  When we have a grasp on the truth, it’s easier to identify the counterfeit.  When we have a grasp on what God’s Word truly says, it’s easier to identify lies.

The precious, Holy Bible; 66 books written by 40 human authors over the span of 1500 years.  A cohesive, historically accurate story featuring a Hero, Jesus.  Jesus who fulfilled over 300 prophecies about the Messiah, an almost incredible feat.  This is truth.  Don’t let your heart be troubled by what you see happening in the world.  Continue training children according to the Word of God for when they are old, they will not depart from it!
