First off, I want to apologize to Droid users, as I only have an iPhone so I’m only covering iPhone apps. For those readers, you have two options: 1. Look in your app store and see if the app is available or if something similar is or 2. Pre-order the iPhone 5 tomorrow. For the rest of you…here are 5 must-have apps for every children’s ministry leader and the best part is they are FREE!
From the American Red Cross, this app gives you step-by-step instructions for any emergency situation. It also has several nice features such as a First Aid quiz game and information about where you can take a First Aid course near you.
This app is a great way to take and share photos with others. The app provides you with several “collage” type layouts where you can impose 3 or 4 photos into the same photo. Having a great time at an event? Take 3 or 4 photos around the event, put them on 1 image and then let others see how much fun the kiddos are having!
As I have said previously, so much networking in children’s ministry is done on Twitter. If you are in KIDMIN (or should I say, children’s ministry, for the non-Twitter users) you should be tweeting! Download the Twitter app, sign up, and tweet about your children’s ministry happenings with the hashtag #KIDMIN.
Facebook Pages Manager is an app that is separate from the regular Facebook app and is used for managing Facebook pages (Who would have thought?). If your children’s ministry doesn’t have a Facebook page, it is a great way to reach out to parents who use Facebook all throughout the week. Visit Facebook to create and edit a page for your children’s ministry, then manage it on-the-go with Facebook Pages.
This app brings out the child in children’s minister. Have you ever wanted to be an action movie star? Download this app and you can be! Take a video that only lasts a few seconds and then add an action movie effect to your clip. People will DEFINITELY ask how you did it! Here is a clip we made at the office recently using Action Movie FX:
Have an app that you can’t live without? Share it below in the comments!
